Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” has had a strangle hold on RnB’s top single spot for the past four months, but its reign maybe done.
Drake’s pop heavy “Hold On, We’re Going Home” is the new king of the mountain and it couldn’t happen to a nicer song. A catchy beat, excellent vocals, and throwback sound make Drake’s single more like Timberlake’s “Suit and Tie” than “Blurred Lines.”
There’s no telling how long “Hold On, We’re Going Home” will remain on top, but the RnB chart hasn’t seen much change this past year. There have only been four number ones this year to date: “Diamonds,” “Suit and Tie,” “Blurred Lines,” and now “Hold On, We’re Going Home.” Could this be our final RnB number one hit of the year?
The lyrics – specifically the chorus which incorporates the title – give the track a nice holiday feel.
