Beyonce Tops DrakeBillboard’s Top 100 may change frequently at times, but the RnB number one seldom changes. Don’t believe me? Here’s the list of all 2013’s number one RnB hits heading into Christmas: Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” and Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home.”
Three. Just three. Each one held the number one spot for about four months. So when I say that it’s a huge feat to reach number one on the RnB charts, you should believe me. But reaching number one after the first week of a tracks release is a downright miracle, and no one performs miracles like Beyonce.
Beyonce’s latest hit “Drunk in Love” is more than a follow-up to 2003’s “Crazy in Love,” which also featured her husband Jay-Z. It isn’t a pop-heavy sing-along about the joy of love. It’s a quickie in a public place. You don’t even have enough time to take off your close. Move those undergarments to the side and ride.
Kudos to Beyonce for her latest, eponymous album, she ventures into uncharted territory like few can. She tackles postpartum depression, insecurities about love and being a woman, and delivers an unflinching look at sex.
